Job Description:
Position Summary:
Responsible for designing, implementing, managing, and maintaining
data backup and recovery solutions both on-premise and in the
cloud. This role ensures data integrity, availability, and
recoverability in alignment with business continuity and disaster
recovery strategies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supports the backup environment by taking primary on-call
responsibility and following up on correcting backup errors.
Creates new backups as needed and ensures Operations schedules are
accurate and up to date. Provides training to Operations staff in
backup and policy.
- Identifies and designs solutions to meet backup and restore
requirements.
- Maintains backup performance by troubleshooting issues, keeping
abreast of technical innovations, and providing recommendations to
take advantage of new technologies, as appropriate for the Data
Center.
- Performs periodic restore and recovery tests.
- Manage backup infrastructure including media servers, storage
devices, appliances, and cloud-based backup resources.
- Maintain documentation of backup configurations, procedures,
and recovery runbooks.Minimum Qualifications
Education
- High School Degree or equivalent is required, and a Bachelor's
Degree in the field of Computer Science or a related field is
preferredExperience
- 10 years of previous experience in Enterprise IT Backup and
recovery operation is required.
- Strong knowledge of storage systems, virtualization (VMware)
and cloud computing (AWS, Azure) is preferred
- Experience backing up Linux, Windows, SQL, Oracle and other
critical business data is preferred
- Hands-on experience with enterprise backups software (e.g.,
Veritas Netbackup, Cohesity, Veeam, Commvault---etc) is
preferred
