The actual salary will be determined by factors such as the scope, complexity, and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials, and experience of the candidate; and other employment conditions. Employees are also eligible for performance-based cash incentive awards as part of our comprehensive compensation and benefits program.Salary Range$157,000.00 - $259,200.00Target Openings1What Is the Opportunity?Lead the pivotal modernization of Bond & Specialty's Strategic Management Liability Program-an exciting and high-impact initiative shaping the future of how we deliver innovative insurance solutions. As a Lead Software Engineer, your technical leadership will influence the evolution of our core insurance platform, driving strategic transformation and platform excellence. You will guide engineering teams through transitioning to modern cloud-native architecture, adopting best-in-class DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and microservices. Your hands-on leadership and architectural insight will be key in delivering scalable, maintainable systems. A major responsibility is unlocking the full value of the Guidewire platform, not only within the Management Liability domain but also by enabling seamless integration into Bond & Specialty's broader insurance ecosystem.This role involves completing expert software engineering tasks including designing, developing, analyzing, configuring, testing, debugging, troubleshooting, documenting, health monitoring/alerting, and implementing solutions based on specifications for high-visibility initiatives. You will also plan and execute at a strategic level, leading the design, development, and implementation of complex problems that extend beyond a single team, establishing software engineering best practices and standards.What Will You Do?

  • Set technical direction and influence multiple teams to improve engineering practices and skills.
  • Align work with business and engineering priorities to achieve impactful results.
  • Build and maintain partnerships to optimize resource use.
  • Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and feedback to team members.
  • Apply industry knowledge to formulate effective solutions.
  • Ensure team compliance with Travelers standards, processes, and protocols.
  • Provide performance feedback and coaching.
  • Seek opportunities to expand technical knowledge.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have?
    • Seven years of programming/development experience plus two years of technical leadership preferred.
    • Experience in the specialty insurance or P&C industry, especially with policy administration.
    • Expertise with Guidewire Policy Administration.
    • Advanced delivery skills, including assessing software design strategies and methodologies, ensuring system quality and health, and developing technical metrics.
    • Domain expertise to leverage industry knowledge for company capability improvements.
    • Strong problem-solving skills, designing robust architectures and planning ahead for future needs.
    • Excellent communication skills to describe technical concepts clearly and collaborate effectively.
    • Leadership skills to engage with other leaders, solve problems, and develop team skills.What is a Must Have?
      • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent work experience.
      • Five years of programming/development experience.
