Job Description:

Recruiting a nurse to evaluate patients prior to exercise/chemical stress testing and cardiac CTA by reviewing cardiac history, labs, baseline cardiac rhythm, and by performing brief physical examination. Will check for appropriate pre-medication orders, patient allergies, and will then discuss findings with cardiologist. The Cardiac Nurse administers nuclear stress tests, exercise treadmill tests, and exercise stress echocardiograms while providing initial management of cardiac dysrhythmias and provides nursing support during cardiac CTA. Essential Job Functions: Clerical/Administrative Verify patient demographic & medical data and assist with scheduling, as needed. Clinical (i.e. Nuclear Stress, EKG, Other) Explains procedures, answers questions, and obtains informed consent from patient. Nursing evaluation prior to testing and monitors during & after the exam. Prepares and administers intravenous medications for chemical testing. Evaluate and interpret baseline EKG and consult with cardiologist as needed. Recognizes and initiates therapy for life threatening cardiac dysrhythmias using ACLS. Responsible for code cart checks responding to codes. Supervision of EKG technician and ensuring appropriateness of duties being performed. Minimum Requirements and Skills: Graduation from an accreditation training institution Massachusetts RN license. ACLS training. Minimum of five years of nursing experience in a similar clinical environment. Demonstrated experience with basic Microsoft and EMR software.
