Technician - Utilities What you will do Lets do this. Lets change
the world. In this vital role you will be responsible for the
operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of site utility
systems supporting Manufacturing, Process Development, and Quality
Analytical operations at the Amgen Rhode Island (ARI) site. This
role ensures reliable utility system performance while maintaining
compliance with safety requirements, Standard Operating Procedures
(SOPs), and current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP). This
position reports to the Utilities Manager and operates on an 8-hour
day shift schedule (7:00 AM 4:00 PM) Monday-Friday. Key
Responsibilities Utility System Operation & Maintenance Operate,
maintain, troubleshoot, and repair complex utility systems
supporting manufacturing and laboratory operations. Systems
include: Purified Water and Water for Injection (WFI) Clean
compressed air Clean steam and plant steam HVAC systems Chilled
water and process cooling water Cooling towers Wastewater treatment
Heating hot water and domestic water Bulk storage and laboratory
gases Cold rooms and environmental control units. Maintenance
Activities Perform inspections, testing, troubleshooting, and
repairs on utility equipment including: Air compressors WFI stills
Clean steam generators Boilers Chillers Cooling towers Conduct pump
rebuilds/replacements, valve rebuilds/replacements, HVAC
troubleshooting and repairs, and piping modifications/repairs.
Compliance & Safety Operate systems in accordance with SOPs, cGMP
requirements, and regulatory standards. Execute work safely using
site programs including: Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) Confined Space Entry
Fall Protection Hot Work Electrical safety Contractor safety
procedures. Operational Excellence Complete maintenance activities
accurately and ensure right-first-time execution. Communicate
status and issues effectively with stakeholders. Identify
operational inefficiencies and improvement opportunities and
support implementation of solutions. Participate in training and
development activities to expand technical capabilities. Provide
support outside normal working hours when required, including
nights, weekends, and holidays. What we expect of you We are all

with these qualifications. Basic Qualifications High school
diploma/GED and 1 year of utility operations or maintenance work or
military experience OR Associate degree Preferred Qualifications
Strong computer skills. 3 years of combined education, training, or
experience supporting utility, HVAC, or refrigeration systems,
including clean/sanitary utilities. Experience maintaining
pneumatic, mechanical, and hydraulic systems. Skills in rigging,
welding, plumbing, or pipefitting. Experience working in a highly
regulated cGMP environment. Experience executing and documenting
maintenance work orders in Maximo CMMS. Familiarity with Building
Automation Systems (BAS), Building Management Systems (BMS), or
SCADA systems. Ability to read and interpret mechanical/electrical
drawings, P&IDs, and specifications. Ability to work
independently and communicate effectively with cross-functional

range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted.
Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not
limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications. In
